INAUGURAL SONNET OF THE 21ST CENTURY AND THIRD MILLENNIUM OF THE COMMON ERA IN HONOUR OF THE HOMECOMING OF THE OLYMPIC GAMES

The best poetry, as they say, is conjured from Heaven

Stolen by a little piping child with fairy bluebird wings

Slowly and subtly she traces and sings

A tapestry of such awe-evoking patterns

That fractals confect in sweet topology

Enchanting even the glamour of ruinous plight and melts all inner glaciers frozen

With Love’s emollient balm comforting poignant ecstasy

And bathes with hope the forlorn child mired in melancholy

Ennobles grief with heroic holiness that shames even kings

And makes candied kindly jubilant laughter out of ordinary, innocent things

Or spellbinds Wisdom with such Supernovaseque Brilliant Elation

Truly Soul to Star and back to Soul She flits with magical grace

For Art is no Artifice but living flower, yea Imagination’s Highest Place

Bridging Eternal, Absolute Heaven and all the spiral stairways of never-ending story

She holds an infinite mirror up to indefinible Being

Today Clio and Thaleeia have to Ellada’s Homecoming Pageant given

The lute-charmed crown of omnipresent peace and omnipotent poesy

Our Muse hath brewed the honeyed lotos elixirs and mead within the specialness of ephemeral creation

Weaving the cosmic hypersphere of superlative wonders round every transcendent plane and scenic nation

She extols infinitely superior loftitudes and qualified heights above the crowned spectacle of victory

Consummating race, surpassing flight with Exhilaration so fine that Exults the dancing rings

Heavenly, most Superlime yea intimate flavours to all eminent word-play and sportive wit She brings

Distilled from the loveliest, All-Loving tender Beatitude that is the Muse’s heart of Glory

Goddess to all her favourite bards, ovates, minstrels, jesters, soothsayers and sages grants better than mystical sanctuary, To one and all, Felicity, most Blessed be.
